Some weeks glide … Some weeks grind … And some weeks?
They feel like a full-blown rollercoaster — the highs, the lows, and everything in between.
It’s not unique to any industry or role, but we all get exposed to the many twists and turns that business can throw at us, no matter our level.
I’m putting my hand up -this week had it all.
A role I’ve been working on for weeks finally landed. The right person. The right fit. The right timing. Great result!
A candidate who walked out of final interview with that quiet confidence — you just knew. Great result!
And then…
An offer declined at the eleventh hour.
A hiring manager who suddenly needed “more time.”
A process that had momentum… stalled.
The positives, the negatives, and the in-betweens. Welcome to business.
We often talk about strategy, process, pipelines, and performance, but not enough about the emotional agility required to operate in this space and deal with all the challenges (good and bad).
Here’s the reality:
In one week, you can feel like you’re building serious traction - and in the next moment you’re recalibrating. The difference isn’t about avoiding the rollercoaster. It’s in how you ride it.
You celebrate the wins — properly. Not just a quick “great job” and move on.
You dissect the losses — constructively. Was it speed? Communication? Expectation Setting? Market Movement?
Here’s what we do:
· You don’t take the highs personally.
· You don’t take the lows personally either.
· You stay steady.
