AI IS GREAT - UNTIL IT ISN’T AND  KNOWING WHEN TO GO HUMAN

Drive by Friday

Drive by Friday –

Let’s be real—AI is everywhere. It's writing emails, handling customer service, generating reports, and much more.  But as much as we love the efficiency, there’s a growing need to recognise one thing:

AI can do a lot. But it can’t do everything.

So… how do you know when it’s time to step in and go human?

When AI Works Wonders

Let’s give it credit where it’s due:

·         Repetitive tasks? Automated and done in seconds.

·         Data analysis? Instant insights, minus the late-night spreadsheet stares.

·         Predictive models? Scary accurate (sometimes too accurate).

If it’s structured, repetitive, or data-heavy, AI is probably your best friend.

But Here’s Where It Gets Risky

  • Emotional Intelligence
AI can mimic empathy. But it can’t feel it. When stakes are high—say, customer complaints, crisis management, or sensitive conversations—people can tell when it’s a bot behind the screen.

  • Creative Strategy
AI can generate, remix, and iterate. But it doesn’t create from lived experience, gut instinct, or cultural nuance. That’s where your human brain still reigns supreme.

  • Brand Voice & Identity
Want to sound exactly like every other AI-assisted brand out there? Go fully automated. Want to stand out? Inject personality, imperfections, and human storytelling.

  • Ethical Judgement
AI doesn’t understand ethics—it follows rules. In grey areas, humans are still the better compass.

A Better Formula: AI + HI (Human Intelligence)

The secret isn’t choosing one over the other. It’s blending both.
Use AI to get to 80%. Then let human insight take it home.

Think of AI as your extremely efficient assistant. You’re still the editor-in-chief.

Something to Try This Week

Audit one part of your business or workflow where you’re using AI.

Ask:
- Is it helping or flattening your message?
- Could a human touch elevate this?
- Where can I bring in more empathy or originality?

Small shifts = big difference.

Wrapping Up

AI is a tool, not a replacement. Let it work for you, not as you.

And if this newsletter made you think (even a little) let me know your thoughts.

Human replies welcome 😊
