Well, here we are.
AFL Finals weekend is upon us, which means footy fans are either feeling very confident right now… or trying not to talk about it at all!
But once the footy is done, the calendar seems to move at double speed.
Next stop… Spring Carnival! 🐎🥂
If your workplace gets into the spirit of it, now is a good time to start thinking about a little office fun. A Melbourne Cup sweep, best-dressed competition, lunch, a morning tea or simply getting everyone together for an hour can be a great excuse to step away from the screens and enjoy a bit of fun with the team. It doesn’t have to be elaborate. Sometimes it’s the simple things that give everyone a bit of a lift.
And then…
CHRISTMAS … and don’t be a grinch!
Suddenly we’re talking Christmas parties, end-of-year events, annual leave, skeleton staff and who is actually going to be around to keep everything ticking along.
For businesses, the next couple of months can disappear very quickly.
If you already know you’ll have people away over the Christmas/New Year period, it’s worth thinking now about where the pressure points might be.
· Who needs cover?
· Which roles absolutely need to keep moving?
· Are there projects or workloads that will be sitting with a smaller team?
And, of course… do you need to hire before Christmas or get the ball rolling for January?
There’s still plenty of time, but December has a funny habit of arriving much faster than expected.
So, for now, enjoy the footy, get the Spring Carnival plans underway and make the most of these little opportunities to have some fun with your team.
Before we know it, someone will be asking: “When is everyone finishing up for Christmas?”
And we’ll all wonder where the year went.
