It’s one of those periods where the outside world feels… noisy.
Rising interest rates, fuel prices creeping up, constant negative headlines, global uncertainty - it’s a lot. And whether we like it or not, that noise has a way of seeping into our day-to-day thinking. But here’s the thing - the businesses that do well in times like these aren’t the ones that react to every headline.
They’re the ones that stay focused. Not on everything… just on the right things.
Control what you can.
The most grounded, steady businesses right now aren’t trying to solve the global economy. They’re focusing on what’s directly in front of them - their customers, their people, their processes, and the small improvements that keep things moving forward.
Because while the external environment might shift, the fundamentals of a good business don’t.
Energy matters more than ever.
Teams don’t just listen to what’s being said — they feel how things are being led.
If there’s tension, uncertainty or hesitation at the top, it tends to have a ripple effect. But when there’s calm, clarity, and a sense of direction - even if things aren’t perfect - that carries just as quickly.
People take their cues from you (their leader), whether you realise it or not.
Keep moving (even if it’s small steps).
Progress doesn’t need to be big right now - it just needs to be consistent.

Sometimes the best thing we can do is take a breath, zoom in, and focus on the next right step - not the next ten. And interestingly, it’s often in times like these that some of the best talent quietly comes onto the market. The businesses that stay open, engaged, and proactive are usually the ones who come out the other side stronger.
